SHOOTING THE ELEPHANT

I enjoyed reading George Orwell’s essay on the conflict between Britain and India and the significance he drew from shooting the elephant. Being a political science major i liked his political views and is stance on what’s going on with the British and the control over India. I believed his used excellent imagery when describing the killing of the elephant. To me you could empathize with the hurt the Indian were feeling. Overall it was a good essay.

revising my opening

It is a dull day with nothing to do. Many of the children are inside playing video games while others are out nothing doing much. On the other side of town you have loud music, colorful lights and an abundant of people running around with many things to do. What can this be? Only the eventful stigma of the big city. Americans tend to believe that the small towns are away of moving away from the city. Common sense seems to dictate that living in a small town is a way of isolation from the big city. I always believe that living in a big city was more beneficial then living in a small town. At the same time I believe that living in a big city is better than living in the small town area, I also believe that it may have its ups and downs as far as social problems. But with these social problems, a big city is more equipped on handling them then a small city would.

living in a big city is better than living in a small city

Living in a large city is better than living in a small city based on he following:

1. more diveristy

2. better education oppurtunites

3. more economic oppurtunities

4. more businesses

Questions one may ask about living in a bug city:

1. How would my child’s education differ from a large setting than in a smaller one?

2. Why would more diversity be better?

3.  Does living in the a large city require mass transportation.

4. Would job opportunities differ in a large setting than a smaller one.

what really bothers me???

There are a few things in and around the school that particularly gets under my skin.  For instance, the mouse problem on campus is really disgusting. I really feel that we pay too much for this school that we cannot afford an exterminator. Another issue is that there not much activity for the student body. I feel like students tend to get into trouble or mischief because we have nothing else to do. And finally that there’s no food restaurants open after 9pm that is close to Brubacher Hall. We often have to order out and most times the delivery time is often passed the time that we are ordering. Whereas, at Suny Albany their dining hall is open 24/7.
